Social media analysis

A few months ago I bumped into Mitch Ratcliffe at Scoble's book launching party - I recognized him instantly as our blog swords had crossed a couple of times (hubris?? pahh!...). So I was interested to read what Mitch had to say in this interview over at R/RW this week regarding a startup he mentioned to me when we met, called BuzzLogic.

At the time (I'd had a couple by then, so my memory might be failing on this point) he described his startup as focussing on 'social media analysis'...it sounded cool and intriguing, but I didn't really know what it meant in practical terms. Now BuzzLogic beta is live, I'm going to have to find out more about what he was going on about and sign up for the limited beta. In the meantime, and to give you a sense of where he's coming from, I'll quote from the interview:

"R/WW: What is your company about?

We're seeking influencers in conversational markets, giving them more power and marketers better insight into how to deploy their limited resources to deal with the explosion of incredibly specific feedback that companies, organizations and political campaigns are receiving through social media. The tools we're building will be applied to many of the challenges we talk about with social media, such as valuing individual contributions to the conversation, rather than just traffic - and how to interact through a dynamic personal form of communication in order to get the results you aim for."
